This newly created role of Director of Communications is designed to unify and enhance the company’s communication efforts. Your Impact you will have:
In close collaboration with the CEO, and Chief People Officer., the Director of Communications holds a crucial role that transcends traditional communication strategies—it’s about shaping the narrative and fostering a strong connection with diverse communities and stakeholders. This position requires a dynamic leader who can not only manage but also transform communication efforts, working closely with internal teams and community stakeholders to ensure messages are clear, compelling, and impactful.

Specific Responsibilities
Crisis Communication Planning: Develop and implement proactive crisis communication plans. Act as the primary spokesperson during crises, ensuring clear, accurate, and timely communication to mitigate risks and protect the company’s reputation.
Develop and Implement External Communication Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive communication plans that align with the Company’s mission and strategic goals. Ensure consistent messaging to enhance the company’s brand and reputation across all channels.
Lead Internal Communications: Oversee and improve internal communication initiatives to keep employees well-informed, engaged, and aligned with the company’s values and objectives. Foster a culture of transparency and open communication within the organization.
Stakeholder/Community Engagement: Manage and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including customers, community leaders, media, and partners. Develop and disseminate compelling narratives that highlight its impact and initiatives. Design and implement community engagement programs that enhance its presence and impact in the communities it serves. Promote the company’s community initiatives and philanthropic efforts.
Content Creation and Brand Management: Oversee the creation and distribution of high-quality content across various platforms, including press releases, social media, newsletters, and the company website. Ensure all content aligns with the company’s brand voice and strategic objectives.
Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets. Proactively manage media inquiries and coverage, developing strategies to secure positive media exposure.
Measurement and Analysis: Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies. Regularly analyze and report on the performance of communication initiatives, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
Budget Management: Oversee the communications budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation to maximize the impact of communication efforts.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure all communication activities comply with industry regulations, ethical standards, and company policies. Maintain high accuracy, clarity, and professionalism in all communications
What we are looking for:
To be considered for this impactful role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- 7+ years Communications: A communications expert with exceptional writing and editing skills, including leading in the development and delivery of briefs, press releases, speaking notes, storytelling, image building, and brand building.
- Proactive Crisis Communication Planning: Experience with proactive crisis communication planning and partnering with third-party communications firms.
- Brand Ambassadorship: An experienced brand ambassador with demonstrated corporate experience within a larger organization.
- Government Relations: Expertise in government relations (lobbying experience an asset) at all levels, including Indigenous governments, and strategic planning experience.
