This is a commercial leadership role designed to manage extreme growth
Reporting directly into the CEO, this newly created role has a simple mission: To drive the continued growth, market share expansion while ensuring rigor and best operating procedures are harnessed.
The role will be responsible for managing product and service offerings, delivery channels and the optimal deployment of sales and marketing resources for the organization. It is responsible for developing the overall strategic sales and marketing plans based on corporate goals and objectives that will promote continuous sales growth and secure customer relationships for the organization.
The Vice President of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the strategy, programs and tactics to create interest and demand for the company and its products through the use of appropriate Public Relations, Product Marketing, Creative Services, Advertising and Strategic Relationships as well as Direct, Event, Channel and Online Marketing.
The candidate will need to accomplish the following outcomes to be successful in their mandate:
- Develop a robust sales/marketing plan for the company to double its growth in under in 5 years.
- Establish infrastructure and a system that supports the sales function while providing detailed, accurate sales forecasting within the first year.
- Add 3 major new accounts in the new construction market within the first year.
- Grow and develop a high performing sales/marketing team.
- Develop and implement a cohesive marketing plan to increase brand awareness within the first 12 months.
The Ideal Candidate will be a proven sales leader with strong relationship and sales skills and an outstanding track record selling/marketing services into the construction/real estate/ development industry. Relationships with developers is an added advantage, but not necessary. He/She will have excelled as a sales leader and has either managed a team of similar size and is keen to take on the next growth/change mandate or be in a position to step up to the top role in a complex company. They will be a commercially oriented executive that understands technical sales and marketing and brings with them strong relationships and a solid reputation.
This candidate must have excellent project management skills and strong financial acumen. They will be comfortable with detailed spreadsheets and KPI’s and bring a credible record of building high-performance teams and outstanding relationships with both an internal and external customer base. He/She will be financially astute with extensive sales and sales management experience as well as marketing leadership experience. Demonstrable experience in designing and implementating successful sales and marketing campaigns will be evident inexperience. They will have successfully led a team, division, or company through change and have clear examples of building “A” teams and inspiring them to achieve results without sacrificing culture.
He/She must be a decisive leader; an individual who can think quickly and pivot when required. They make decisions sooner, faster, and with great efficiency. A strong work ethic with proactive communication skills that encourages conversations is a must.
As a result, the ideal candidate will have examples and experience in which they have engaged the company for impact, making those decisive decisions while at the same time communicating a clear course for the business by obtaining buy-in among their employees and executive team members. He/She will provide keen insight into their organization’s priorities with an unrelenting focus on delivering business results while at the same time creating a culture of success and goal achievement.
In addition, the ideal candidate will know how to adapt proactively and have a growth mindset. He/She will be able to offer matter-of-fact root cause corrective action of where and why they had come up short and give specific examples of how they tweaked their approach the next time to achieve better results while continuing to exhibit strong leadership skills.
Finally, the ability to reliably produce results as both a steady hand for the executive team and a predictable leader for employees is key.
Candidates must have the following experience to be considered:
- 10-15 years of sales and marketing experience, 2 of which were at a director level or above.
- Experience in building a high-performance sales and marketing team.
- Solid knowledge of SEO, web analytics, and Google Adword with experience in CRM software and digital marketing tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated track record of project management expertise.
- Strong technical sales acumen
- Relationships within the real estate development community (nice to have)
