Who you are:
We are seeking a proactive and results-oriented Director of Operations with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in consumer-facing industries such as logistics, transportation, mobility, facilities management, and/or consumer goods. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of people management experience in a unionized environment, with a proven track record of identifying operational issues and delivering cost-effective solutions.
This is a general management opportunity with P&L responsibility, best suited for candidates who have prior experience in this capacity. Those who do will have an advantage. We will prioritize candidates with a strong continuous improvement mindset who can systematically build and lead teams to monitor key department performance measures. This will ensure high-quality and consistent service to all clients while managing key relationships with stakeholders including vendors, customers, and partners.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate must be an effective team builder/leader, with excellent communication and collaboration skills. The Director of Operations will drive change and deliver results, while continuously improving operations and maintaining a customer-focused approach.
The impact you will have:
The Director of Off-Street Operations will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations ensuring the firm delivers exceptional service to its customers and focusing on growing business along with saving costs through efficient P&L management. They will report directly to the Vice President of Operations and provide leadership to over 100 unionized and non-unionized staff through 2-5 direct reports. The successful candidate is also accountable for achieving the annual revenue and expense targets, solving operational inefficiencies, and serving as a mentor to the team while ensuring a customer-centric culture is being delivered. In addition, the director will collaborate with the VP of Operations in creating new KPIs that can accurately measure team performance.
What are we looking for?
Candidates must have the following experience to be considered:
- Industry Experience: 10+ years of progressive operations experience in industries such as logistics, transportation, mobility, facilities management, and/or consumer goods, as well as 5 years of experience in a unionized environment.
- Change Management: Has successfully built, improved, and introduced new operating systems that have helped in reducing costs, increasing efficiency levels, and generating revenues.
- Tech Savvy: Exposure to management and payment processing systems, hardware technologies, data analysis tools, MS Office programs for team collaboration, and familiarity with CRM and ERP systems.
- Financial Management: Can manage Profit & Loss (P&L) and create new business plans that can generate revenue.
- Leadership Management: Has demonstrated their ability to coach, develop and motivate a team to continuously improve their skills and be able to adapt to new environments.
- Education: A university degree or 3-year college diploma in business management, operations management, or a related subject area.
