About the Association:

Who you are:
You will be a dynamic and visionary leader who can propel the sector toward growth, innovation, and sustainability. Your wealth of experience in the food processing industry, coupled with a proven track record of success in leadership roles, positions you ideally for this position. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of the industry’s complexities and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of food processing, along with a passion for leading an industry association.
you will possess comprehensive knowledge of the agriculture environment, food processing, trade issues, food safety, policies, regulations, and supply chain management. You will appreciate the unique nature of the agriculture industry, demonstrating keen insight, knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a regulated environment.
As a collaborative leader, you will draw on your superior general management experience in operations, finance, human resources, communications, team building, and collaboration. Your exceptional relationship management skills, including effective communication, negotiation, and consensus-building
Finally, the ability to reliably produce results as a steady hand for the board and as a predictable leader for members is key. Preference will be afforded to those who are bilingual in French & English.
The impact you will have:
Your mandate is to continue to build and enhance the association’s role as the “voice of the industry”. You will craft a strategic plan, build and sustain strong government and industry relations, and influence government policies, programs, and regulations for the benefit of members. With an entrepreneurial spirit and personal integrity, you will develop and execute the business plan and operational activities and most importantly lead the national association in membership growth.
What are we looking for?
Candidates must have the following experience to be considered:
- Experience and knowledge of the agricultural sector (i.e. agri-food manufacturing, association, etc.) and/or a good understanding of the industry’s supply management system and associated regulations.
- Government operations: demonstrated success in advocacy and federal government lobbying – Understands the machinery of government, authorities, and decision-making processes with a high degree of political acumen.
- Experience working in an industry association is a definite asset.
- Financial Management – Understands the basics of accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Communication – Understands the role and importance of media, including social media. Is comfortable being a public spokesperson.
- Bilingual will be an asset.
